Large Scale Rolling Stock Kits

Box Cab

The newest large scale kit in my line is the Box Cab. It is compatible with models in 1/22.5 and 1/20.3 scales. The critter is based on the GE 20 ton Box Cab built in 1939. I have made a few changes in the rather plain prototype design which I hope will make the unit a little neater. As such, it is free lance, but follows the prototype closely in most areas. I have changed the window locations and added an exterior radiator along with a roof overhang at the sides. The kit is made to fit the AristoCraft Li’l Critter motor block. This can be ordered as a separate item from them. You don’t need the complete loco unless you happen to have one kicking around already.

 The kit is resin with white metal details. As such, it will be a little more delicate than the usual G scale critter cast in one heavy piece. I have decided to include most of the details including an internal combustion engine and generator along with a seat, electrical cabinet and instrument panel. The floor casting is complete with textured details. Real see-through screen is included for vents. The end beams have no coupler openings in them so you can choose your own height. Complete instructions and drawings will be included as well as a detailed set of painting and weathering instructions. The resin used is UV resistant, but because of the delicate nature of the beast, it is best to store it inside when not in use.

This will be a limited run kit. I hope to add a few more items to this series in time including one or two more critter as well as a few freight cars.
